The parker solar probe, launched by NASA, will study very close to the sun. The speed of this spacecraft is 200 kilometers per second. Even with so much speed, it will take about 7,000 years for the parker solar probe to reach the Proxima Centauri. That’s a long time. On April 12, 2016, breakthrough initiatives launched a research and engineering project called breakthrough starshot. Whose purpose is to develop a concept. How to accelerate a lightsail, using a light beam. From which the interstellar travel becomes so fast that we can compare it with the speed of light. This project may seem easy to hear. The three main ones are stephen hawking, yuri milner and mark zuckerberg.

The initial phase of this project has invested $ 100 billion. If everything goes according to plan, the breakthrough starshot mission will be launched in 2036. The first step in this mission will be to launch mothership. Inside this mothership will be small spacecraft. Which will be thrown out of the mothership, far above the earth. This small spacecraft will be called nanocraft. This nanocraft will have two main components. The first star chip and the second the lightsail. The star chip and the lightsail will be just a few grams in weight. To create it, the most advanced technology of the future will be used.

Component of spacecraf

The star chip will be the microelectronic component of this spacecraft. According to the plan, 2 megapixel camera will be installed. And with this will be installed photon thrusters, power supply, navigation and communication equipment. All in all, it will be a small spacecraft. The lightsail that will be used in this mission, its production will depend entirely on nanotechnology. This lightsail will be 4 meters long and wide. But it will not be more than a few hundred atoms thick. On the other hand, the second step of this mission is to be ready.

For this, a large light beamer will be constructed on earth. Where powerful laser will be fitted. It will be built on the advanse light beam technology. When all the nano spacecraft comes out of the mothership, focus will be on the lightsail from the light beamer. All of these light beamer will generate 100 GW of energy. Which will focus one by one on the lightsail. After receiving so much energy, all these lightsail will achieve 20 percent of the speed of light, in just 10 minutes. This time the speed of this nano spacecraft, will be 37,000 miles per second. Similarly, thousands of nano spacecraft will be launched.

Travel about trillion miles

These nano spacecraft will travel about 25 trillion miles. About 20 to 25 years after launch, these nano spacecraft will reach Proxima Centauri. And then this spacecraft with its 2 megapixel camera, will see that sun. And will it really look like Proxima Centauri has a Planet? Which can take the place of the human world in the future?
